The students graph the data, find a function that fits the data, and then describe a situation that could be illustrated by the data. The first mathematics textbooks to be written in English and French were published by Robert Recorde, beginning with The Grounde of Artes in 1540. That is quite a bit different than saying that our educational system has an achievement problem, our country has a large-scale poverty problem, and the world has a sustainability problem.
